About

Southern Nomads Sport Erin (Registered Charity No. 1001) – commonly known as Sport Erin – was established in 2007 by the Southern Nomads RUFC rugby club to provide recreational facilities, focusing especially on the southern island’s youth. Since its inception, Sport Erin has financially supported individuals involved in various sports. The Southern Striders, also backers of the Harbour 2 Harbour walks, are valued partners under the Sport Erin umbrella.

In 2019, after years of fundraising, the charity helped to fund the as construction of the Ballakilley sports ground. This work has continued, and now there is a fully functioning sports facility for the southern community. Looking ahead, the charity aims to establish a permanent clubhouse to serve as a resource for the wider community.

Since the Harbour 2 Harbour Walk started in 2014, Sport Erin has been closely involved, and this collaboration has greatly contributed to fundraising efforts. This year’s funds will help advance the permanent clubhouse project and continue to support young sporting talent in the south of the island.
